In practice, people use the terms interchangeably — and so do we. The technical distinction is that pruning refers to selective removal for health and structure (deadwood, crossing branches, improving form), while trimming is more aesthetic (shaping, clearance from structures). In reality, most jobs involve both. We assess what your specific trees need and give you a clear recommendation. If trimming is the better call instead of removal, we'll tell you that too.

You can rent a stump grinder — but consumer rental machines are underpowered for anything over 10-12 inches in diameter, and operating them safely requires knowing what's in the ground (utility lines, irrigation, buried obstacles). We call before we dig, we use commercial-grade equipment, and we're done faster than a day-rental. For most stumps, the rental cost plus your time often approaches what we charge. Standard tree removal uses climbing, rigging, and ground crew to remove a tree section by section in a controlled way. Crane service lifts entire sections straight up and out rather than lowering them to the ground. It's used when there's no safe fall zone in any direction — trees against structures, over pools, in tight spaces. Crane work does cost more than standard removal because of the equipment and additional crew required. But for situations where it's necessary, it's the only safe option — and it often protects your property from thousands in potential damage from a conventional removal gone wrong.

By default, we haul everything away — logs, branches, chips, and debris. If you want to keep firewood or wood from the tree, just let us know before the job starts and we'll leave what you want in a designated spot. Most customers prefer full removal so their yard is completely cleared. Either way, the mess is gone — we don't leave loose debris or chips you have to deal with.
